Has anyone else noticed how awesome Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin is? The show is about three puppets (Mary, Jack and his dog Mel) who have a band in a clubhouse behind Jack's house (Mel the dog plays the drums of course). They play songs, encourage kids to dance, and are visited by all kinds of non-puppet people. Some are musicians who come over to play music with them, and some are people like the "music fairy" who grants music wishes The show kind of reminds me of the puppet/human interactions of Sesame Street (apparently two of the creators used to work on Sesame Street), combined with the wackiness of Pee Wee's Playhouse. The music is fun and playful without being annoying, and my Madame loves it (though she'll dance to anything, even the music on a freaking car commercial).
With a lot of average shows for preschoolers out there, it's great having one I don't mind sitting through.

Holiday gifts. Kids. Jack's Big Music Show. (12-01-2005)
Two and a half year old no longer has any interest in Thomas the Tank Engine or Barney or Sesame Street.
By far his favorite episode--and mine--is the "Daddio" flower.
I've noticed on several episodes lately there is no Schwartzman Quartet. Please Noggin, don't cut these guys out. Some of the people coming in live is okay, but it cuts down on the variety--and the SQ always steals the show. My son always has a gut laugh when the SQ comes in the door.
This, plus, if I can't get "Where-o-where is Mary" out of my head soon, I'm going to have to see a shrink.
Last thing--please make the dolls and get them in toy stores soon!!! Especially Mel.

Forgot to add that Cathy Richardson is a Chicago jazz icon. I'm guessing she is also the voice if Jack's mom?

My daughter Grace LOVES JBMS! She sings along with the theme songs....then says..."Hi Mel, Hi Mary" We can't get enough of Jack. I hope that they start to make CD's and stuffed animals of the characters.
